Joshua 3:1-3 NLT
Early the next morning Joshua and all the Israelites left Acacia Grove and arrived at the banks of the Jordan River, where they camped before crossing. Three days later the Israelite officers went through the camp, giving these instructions to the people: “When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD your God, move out from your positions and follow them.
Forty years before the Lord had released the children of Israel from slavery if the Egyptians. They had been there for over three hundred years. For forty years they roamed around the desert because of disobedience of some of the leaders and people. Obeying God’s word and instructions protects you from many huddles including delay and destructions.
I imagine that there was a lot of excitement as they left Acacia Grove, however there instructions to be followed. The Levitical Priests were to lead carrying the Ark of the Covenant. They were going to step on the overflowing waters of the Jordan River first. It was an act of faith. Believing that the covenant that existed with God was executable. The children of Israel were going to follow behind the Priests. Everything was going to be in order and not some form of stampede.
When the priests moved the waters stopped and they crossed the river on dry ground. The previous year might have been like a desert for you. You struggled to even to survive but I encourage you to trust the word of God. Jesus the great High Priest is ahead of you and waiting for you to follow in faith. It is your season to cross that Jordan river of sickness, pain, grief, lack and all kinds of negative situations.
Move out of the position of comfort and follow the instructions of God.
I pray for you that this year will be your year of harvesting. By God’s grace may the pain and limitations of the past be forgotten and you move forward in faith. Doubt will not be your portion in this season in Jesus’ name.
Declare this
I bid farewell to the desert. I arise and go forth in the name of the Lord. In obedience to His word I will act. I refuse to be led by my own instincts this year but by the word and voice of God only. I am grateful for the grace to be in a new year.
Happy New Year
