Go deeper in revelation – Day 8 ~ January 2023 Prayer & Fasting

Go deeper in revelation !!

Psalms 69:9
“for zeal for your house consumes me,
and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.”

The incident at the Temple in which Psalm 69:9/a is confirmed is actually recorded by all four Gospel writers—such was its significance. The writers also noted that what Jesus said at the time was the fulfilment of what another prophet had also said concerning the incident:

Matthew 21:13
“It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”

Where is it “written”?

Here it is in Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 7:11
Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the LORD.

Once again we have clear examples to confirm what Jesus meant when He said that the Old Testament Books wrote “concerning Himself”:

Luke 24:27
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

Luke 24:44
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

When Jesus said— “Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”—He meant it literally!
Why is it important to know these things about the Messiah in the Old Testament?

So many Christians don’t pay any real attention to this statement— “Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” —As part of their studies and sadly this limits their “knowledge” of the Lord.

But why is it that important anyway?

There was once a time in my life when I spent months just praying and fasting constantly but it seemed that I was not making the breakthroughs on the issues over which I prayed, in the manner that I expected. Then one day the Lord spoke to my heart, and immediately I understood what He was saying [ever gently, but firmly]:

“My dear son, the revelation that you hold is not sufficient any longer to help you with the challenges that you face.” Quoted from (TTM).

I understood this in the same way that I had come to understand my progression from elementary (primary) school, to high school, and then to university; even though I was the best student as a seventh grader, that knowledge could not have secured me a livelihood in life, except perhaps as a labourer. I had to move on to acquire more knowledge.

In the same way, there are a lot of Christians who are determined to make a go of life with a level of revelation that can best be described as “elementary school”.

The Indwelling Holy Spirit yearns for us to have an epignosis-knowledge of God, but He cannot do so until we play our part, which is to have the zeal to know the word of God.

Epignosis is higher knowledge of the word.

As you pray today 👇🏾

✨Desire grace that will make you a lover of studying God’s word.
✨Pray for grace to open the channels inside you to allow the Holy Spirit to populate you with epignosis.
✨Ask for deeper revelation as you create time to study the word and move from grade seven to PhD in understanding the things of the kingdom.
✨Pray for grace to understand the link between the Old and New Testament. As you do so, wisdom to see Christ even in the Old Testament.
✨There are challenges, pray for a revelation that equals them.
✨Pray for zeal to do the work of the kingdom just as Jesus did.
