The Quest of Zacchaeus

And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. (Luke 19:2-4 KJV)

He was a rich man, with everything to meet a man on this side of eternity. However, life goes beyond money and other forms of riches. Though financially loaded, some of the riches unlawfully gained, he realised there is something he lacked.

He heard of someone who contrasted him greatly! Jesus was rich in all aspects. The most attractive being spiritually! ‘Zacchaeus sought to see Jesus.’ He must have tried everything including his financial prowess but there was no success!

A day came when Jesus was passing in his area. Forgetting his riches, Zacchaeus had to humble himself and find a tree. He climbed it!

The tree represents a spiritual pedestal. When one humbles themselves and focuses on Jesus, it changes their story! This brought results for him as finally, Jesus was now able to see him.

For an encounter with Deity, one needs to descend the pedestal of worldly attractions and climb the tree where Jesus is the main attraction. Take your eyes off all distractions and focus on Him. The result was a sweet fellowship with Jesus resulting in total repentance! Surrendering and totally restoring three times that which was stolen, his life was transformed!

Your greatest goal should be to see Jesus and fellowship with Him. Humble yourself and climb in the spirit focussed on Him.

Today I choose to see Jesus. I choose the pedestal of humility versus worldly riches. I choose to give versus unlawfully gaining wealth! I will seek Him with all my strength. Amen
